a little dirt never hurt

a month ago i signed up for the kiss me dirty in july and the dirty girl in september. these runs are more obstacle course than race, and more group than individual. they were expensive ($55 and $70, respectively) for a 5k, but should be fun.

i need your money!!!

this is the third year i have been raising money for the prostate conditions education counsel. the first year, i raised $400. last year, i raised $600. this year, i want to raise $1000. that means i need your help. (yes, yours!)

this cause is near and dear to my heart since my dad passed away in may 2010 from prostate cancer. he was 59. i was 31. my boys were 6 and 8. sometimes, it's hard to wrap my head around the fact that he is not around any more.

less than three weeks to go

yesterday's run: mind felt good, lungs felt good, legs felt good. heart felt like it was about to explode. i am starting to get really worried i won't be really for the half in april. does anyone use dailymile to log their exercise? i could really use some encouragement over there.

Lord, i confess to being unsatisfied and ungrateful. i wish to give careful thought to my ways. help me to honor you in my body and in my house. to plant and harvest equally. to eat and be full. to work and to save. i want to be a good steward of the talents you have given me. i ask for your forgiveness in not using the potential you have given to me. amen.

i am reminded all the time that i am not strong enough to do this on my own. i love how this song by matthew west reminds me that i don't have to hit rock bottom to start looking up. God is strong enough to give me the strength i need. i can lean into him.

new shoes!

have you ever been fitted for running shoes before? i haven't. until yesterday. it was a neat experience, taking about 30 minutes. these are the shoes that were recommended.



and because i am a dork, i couldn't resist a new pair of socks. designed for the right and left foot. i love them!

daylight saving time

hubby took the boys to school for me today so i could sleep in. unfortunately, i couldn't sleep. i hate the switch to daylight saving time. i understand why we do it, but i don't have to like it.

more 5280 food pics

plans get changed. it happens. we ended up switching around a few restaurant during 5280 week.

we didn't really love ninth door. texas de brazil has the most fabulous lobster bisque in the world. grappa's food portions were inconsistent. vesta dipping grill was amazing (and probably hubby's favorite)! the service was exceptional at wine and cheese.

roller hockey

i spent 4 hours in a row sitting on my bum today. not because i am lazy, but because my boys had 4 roller hockey games. one would think after 4 hours of sitting around, i would be ready to move, but i feel exhausted. it this some kind of voodoo roller hockey energy sap?
